401 new cases of COVID-19 reported Sunday in Ontario, recoveries top 3,000

21 new deaths brings the provincial count to 274

The Ontario government reported 401 new cases COVID-19 in the province in the last 24 hours.

Sunday’s update also included another 21 deaths from the virus, bringing the total number so far to 274.

The number of new cases is the lowest since the 379 reported on April 7.

Province-wide, there are more than 7,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

738 patients are in Ontario hospitals with the virus, and of those, 261 are in an intensive care unit, an increase of four patients from the previous day and 196 of those people are on ventilators, which is a drop of 19 in the last 24 hours.

The province said it conducted 6,844 tests over the last 24 hour period, nearly double the number from the previous day.

The number of resolved cases has topped 3,000

The next update locally from the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit will be on Monday.
