Alliston hospital’s trauma room getting its first renovation since being built in 1964

Level 2 ICU project also slated for this month

Part of Stevenson Memorial Hospital’s emergency department (ED) is getting a facelift, the first since the ’60s.

The renovation of the Alliston hospital’s ED trauma room is one of two projects slated to start in March; the trauma room and a patient/visitor washroom in the ED will begin to see work done on Monday, March 9th, while construction will start on the implementation of a level 2 bed unit later this month.

The renovation of the trauma room includes new flooring, paint, and upgraded equipment and lighting. This represents the first work done to the room since its construction in 1964. It is expected the project will take two weeks, with minimal impact to patients.

“We are working to modernize our aging infrastructure as we await our approval for redevelopment,” says Jody Levac, President and CEO, SMH. “Our patients, staff and community members deserve to have a Hospital that is updated to reflect modern standards. I thank our community donors for making these significant transformations possible.”
