And so it begins…
Barrie woman in Africa to begin trek up Kilimanjaro
She’s battled heart disease for most of her adult life, but starting tomorrow Deb Bobechko of Barrie starts climbing a new mountain – Kilimanjaro – in Africa.

More than 19 thousand feet high, she’s hoping to raise a dollar for every foot she climbs. All of which will be donated to the Youth Haven shelter.
“Even if I don’t summit, every step is a success. That’s what the youth need to hear. Every step they take to becoming a successful adult is a success. Individual success is their definition, not somebody else’s,” said Bobechko.
She arrived in Africa Tuesday to make final preparations for her climb, which she hopes to begin on Thursday.
