Barrie’s downtown Police officers get new look
Shirts offer enhanced visibility
If you didn’t see them before, you’ll seem them now.
Barrie’s downtown police officers – known as the Community Response Unit or CRU – get new shirts today with a bright yellow top half.
Our new high-visibility uniform shirts are here! Feedback downtown is positive: “I like the yellow – more visibility” #ItsOurDowntownToo #CommittedToOurCommunity #BarriePolice pic.twitter.com/8wFx6yliaE

Sergeant Angie Butler, who heads up the CRU, says they’re similar to the bright yellow jackets worn by officers who patrol on bicycles, “We want people to see us…so people can recognize us for who we are and the work that we’re doing.”

In addition to the visibility factor, Sergeant Butler says the shirts are designed for working in hot conditions. They have a cooling effect when the temperature rises and are moisture-wicking.
