Chantal Kreviazuk to headline Georgian Bay General Hospital virtual gala

Funds raised going towards preparing for potential second COVID-19 wave

Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH) is pushing forward with its signature gala, albeit in a virtual form, and with a special guest.

The GBGH Foundation will bring together its Georgian Bay Pops & Annual Gala on Saturday, August 22, as a virtual event called the Power of Giving Virtual Gala. It will feature JUNO award-winning singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. The digital event will also feature an online auction, live fundraising, and heart-warming stories from former patients.

“Our virtual gala will engage and entertain our community, while also raising critical funds for our hospital,” says Nicole Kraftscik, executive director, GBGH Foundation. “We have partnered with Layne, The Auctionista – a dynamic, philanthro-tainer, who will lead us through the event as our host. Layne will engage supporters from their homes during an exciting Fund-a-Need segment, outlining how important donations are to ensure exceptional care for patients at GBGH.”

The past six months have put significant strain on the hospital’s capital budget, but the need for equipment and technology continues to grow. The funds from the event will help to purchase telemetry packs for the Intensive Care Unit, along with the implementation of an electronic medical record, and address the investments required to prepare the hospital for a potential surge of COVID-19 patients.
