This morning, we wake up to news of nine killed and 26 wounded in Dayton, Ohio, as well as seven wounded in a mass shooting near a playground in Chicago. Is this the new normal in America? Enough is enough. We can’t treat this as normal.— Senator Dick Durbin (@SenatorDurbin) August 4, 2019
Chicago Police say early Sunday morning the victims were standing in the park when someone fired shots from a black Camaro.
No one is in custody. Area Central detectives are investigating.
Gun violence has become a public health epidemic, and it’s our duty to interrupt it. To keep weapons of war off our streets. To provide mental health resources to those who need it. In a separate shooting later in the morning police say four men were shot and one of them died at the scene.
