It was a sad day as @YRP gathered to say goodbye to a friend and colleague, Staff Sergeant Craig Heatley. He was dedicated to service and loved his job mentoring new officers as a platoon commander. I was proud to see so many of these officers there to support his family. #RIP pic.twitter.com/3AR4xWxKxC— Chief Jim MacSween (@chiefmacsween) August 3, 2021
York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween said shortly after Heatley’s death that the loss was devastating and unexpected for all of Craig’s family, friends and platoon mates.
