SUMMARY:Sweat 4 Shelter in support of The Busby Centre
DESCRIPTION:The Busby Centre is a housing-focused organization serving individuals and families across Barrie and South Georgian Bay who are experiencing\, or are at risk of\, houselessness and food insecurity. Since 1993\, we have operated with the belief that everybody is somebody and that housing is a right for everyone. \nGuided by Housing First principles\, we provide low-barrier\, trauma-informed support through our integrated services: Day Drop-in\, Overnight Emergency Shelter\, Street Outreach\, and our Supportive Housing Program. We work to create the shortest path from homelessness to housing and reduce the impact of poverty\, homelessness\, insufficient employment\, addiction\, and mental health challenges in our community. \nThis year\, we are launching our Double the Difference campaign\, presented by Bertram Construction. From December 2 to January 12\, Bertram Construction will match donations up to $100\,000\, doubling your impact and helping us reach our $250\,000 year-end goal. \nYour support ensures we can continue providing warm meals\, safe shelter\, outreach supports\, and housing-focused care for over 150 individuals every day.

SUMMARY:Youth Haven - Boxes of Hope
DESCRIPTION:Boxes of Hope — Give the Gift of Warmth\, Safety\, and Belonging \nEvery youth deserves to feel safe\, supported\, and seen.On a freezing December night\, a 14-year-old girl huddles in a downtown doorway\, watching Christmas lights through frosted windows. She feels invisible — cold\, hungry\, and forgotten. No child should face that kind of night alone. Yet for too many youth in our community\, this is reality. \nBoxes of Hope was created to change that. For just $50\, you can help a young person move from fear to safety — from hopelessness to home. Each Box of Hope supports Youth Haven\, Simcoe County’s only emergency youth shelter and outreach program for youth experiencing homelessness. \nWhen you give\, you offer more than essentials — you give hope\, healing\, and a reason to believe again. \nYour $50 Box of Hope provides:• A safe\, warm place to sleep on freezing nights.• Nutritious meals that replace hunger with comfort.• Medical care and emotional support for recovery and growth.• Education and life skills training to build independence. and\n• the gift of Christmas — a moment of joy showing every youth someone truly cares. \nEvery Box of Hope is a message of love — proof that compassion still lives strong in our community. The youth who once came to Youth Haven scared and alone are now graduates\, professionals\, and parents giving back to the same community that lifted them up. \nThis holiday season\, your kindness can help a youth find their way home — to warmth\, safety\, and belonging. \n✨ Purchase your Box of Hope today at youthhaven.ca/boxes-of-hope/ \nSometimes ... the smallest act of kindness can change a future. \nBecome a Holiday Hero!

SUMMARY:The Stand by Canadian Playwright Jennifer Walton presented by Wasaga Community Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Life in a quiet lakeside town is about to get complicated. When plans for a new housing development threaten a cherished patch of local woods\, neighbours find themselves on opposite sides of the debate — and long-standing friendships are suddenly tested. \nAt the centre is Louise Wilson\, a birdwatcher who never expected to become an activist\, and her best friend Justine\, whose developer husband has big plans for the land. Add in a daughter freshly home from university\, a son torn between family duty and his own heart\, and a community full of opinions\, and the stage is set for secrets\, surprises\, and more than a few laughs. \nWitty and warm\, The Stand is a Canadian comedy about friendship\, family\, and the unexpected ways a community comes together when something worth protecting is at stake.
