SUMMARY:Cookstown Outdoor Antique Show
DESCRIPTION:Hardcore collectors\, a couple of hundred of them\, line up before opening. At 8am they're off to scour the show for what they love. The younger\, more relaxed cohort shows up later on. These folks tend to linger and browse\, considering and comparing\, ultimately buying some cool item. \nThis is the Cookstown Antique and Vintage show\, outdoors on a ten acre field. Nearly one hundred dealers\, 200-odd tables\, 8 hours in which to browse\, shop and seek out little gems\, great finds and the perfect gift. Brand new last year\, the Cookstown antique show has already attracted a solid fan base - people who love old things and who can't resist the chance to find some rare piece hiding in plain sight. Dealers are coming from all parts of Ontario - a dozen from Simcoe County - plus a few from Quebec. \nVisitors find a very wide range of antiques\, retro and collectibles\, with specialists in vintage art glass\, Canadian pressed glass\, art pottery\, early advertising\, Canadiana pine furniture\, midcentury modern furniture and lighting\, antique metalware\, Canadian fine art and antique prints\, jewellery\, retro and vintage kitchenware\, folk art\, vintage clothing\, quilts and textiles\, rare books\, vintage paper and more. \nThe show is a 'can't miss' for many hundreds of people every time - a different experience in shopping for antiques and collectibles. \nThe Georgian Bay Steam Show grounds are at 4635 Victoria St. W. in Cookstown. The show runs Saturday\, May 25 from 8am until 4pm. Admission is $12\, kids under 13 are free and on-site parking is also free. There will be several food trucks from around Simcoe County on site too.

SUMMARY:MacLaren Benefactor Art Exchange
DESCRIPTION:For a $1 a day\, select a piece of artwork to have on loan for one year. Looking to support and get more involved in the arts community? This is the perfect program for you. \nThe Benefactor Art Exchange is a longstanding MacLaren program aiming to showcase regional artists\, foster regional collectors\, and increase gallery membership. For over 20 years\, artists have been showcasing their work in this annual exhibition while building relationships with the region’s many art collectors and budding art lovers. This year’s selection\, featuring over one hundred works\, serves as a preview for the main event – an enthralling art-filled evening where MacLaren Members at the Benefactor and Junior Benefactor levels have the chance to select a work of art to have on loan for the year and display in their home or business. After the year\, Benefactors have the option to purchase their loaned work\, making it a perfect addition to their personal collection. \nIt is a great opportunity to borrow an original work of art and see how your space can be transformed. The Benefactor Program is a unique way to fill your life with art\, become an art collector\, and build lasting relationships with working regional artists. It is these connections that play a fundamental role in supporting the development of regional artistic talent and supporting the creative futures of our community.
