Extra Traffic Outside Downey’s Office In Barrie

Groups trying to raise awareness of Legal Aid Ontario cuts by the Provincial Government

Doug Downey’s Office with a little more extra attention.

“If we are going to have a just and fair Ontario, Doug Downey needs to stand up to Doug Ford and reverse those cuts.”

OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas

OPSEU members, along with the Ontario Network of Injured Workers Group (ONIWG) and the Barrie District Injured Worker Group, gathered for a “teach-in” outside of the Ontario Attorney General’s constituency office in Barrie.

The aim is to raise awareness about how the devastating cuts to Legal Aid Ontario will affect injured workers seeking compensation and justice.

“If you’re injured on the job, you deserve to be compensated while you recover. You can’t work to make a living and medical expenses can add up. Injured workers who can’t afford a lawyer need Legal Aid if they must fight for compensation.”
