UPDATE: Victim identified; charges upgraded in Aurora house Fire

36 year old woman is due in court to face the offence

York Regional Police have identified the victim of a house fire in Aurora July 27 as 38-year-old Troy Stephen Oakley.

They have also upgraded the charges against a 36-year-old woman from Second to First Degree Murder. She has also been charged with Arson and Uttering Threats.

July 28

A 36-year-old woman is due in court to face a charge of Second Degree Murder in connection to a deadly house blaze in Aurora.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit deemed the house fire suspicious Saturday; The house on Edward Street was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters had knocked down the fire and were able to enter the home where they located a body.

The deceased won’t be identified until a post-mortem has been completed.
