Innisfil Man Charged With Spending Funny Money Around Town

Bank Sounded The Alarm Over Phony Bills

A young man is facing charges in connection to the spending of funny money around Innisfil.

A bank called South Simcoe Police on Friday afternoon, after some counterfeit American currency came to its attention. Investigators were able to figure out someone had been spending, or trying to spend, fake bills at a few locations around Innisfil.

A suspect was identifed and arrested that evening. A 22-year-old Innisfil man is facing five counts of Uttering Counterfeit Money, one of counterfeit possession, and police say the man was also charged with being in possession of cocaine.
