Long Weekend Road Safety

OPP focusing on impaired, distracted and aggressive driving along with lack of seat belt use

Ontario Provincial Police will be on the roads engaged in the Victoria Day Long Weekend Traffic Safety Campaign.

The focus of this initiative are the “Big 4” which include impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and lack of seatbelt use.

To date in 2019, Central Region’s fatal motor vehicle collisions have decreased by 38% when compared to the same time in 2018.

Over the last three years, this represents a decrease of 12% in fatal collisions.

Central Region’s personal injury motor vehicle collisions have decreased slightly by 7% (average of 31 collisions) when compared to the same time over the last 3 years.
