UPDATED: Confirmed Death on the Waters in Wasaga Beach

OPP confirm the victim, a 25 year old Brampton man, was pronounced deceased at the hospital by physicians

Emergency officials confirm the identity of a man who accidentally drowned in Wasaga Beach.

Police confirm the death was deemed an accident.

Ontario Provincial Police, Simcoe County EMS and Wasaga Beach Fire were called to Beach Area 1 in Wasaga Beach Monday night for reports of a man who had gone swimming but did not return.

Hospital physicians confirmed the death of the 25 year old Brampton man.

Drowning deaths over recent years have renewed calls for officials in Wasaga Beach to bring back their lifeguard program.

A water safety advocate in Wasaga Beach has been asking why no lifeguards for 21 years. John Watt was fed up with waiting for an answer so he purchased some billboard space along Highway 26.

He says reaction to the controversial billboards is split 50/50 with some local businesses complaining the billboards will scare away tourists. With that in mind, Watt paid to remove the (Multiple Drownings) wording from the billboards by August 1st.
