Two public meetings today to discuss Barrie’s Waterfront Strategy

Wants to hear ideas from residents, businesses and organizations

from the City of Barrie

The City of Barrie is updating the 2015 Waterfront and Marina Strategic Plan, and wants to hear from residents, businesses and organizations about their ideas for the waterfront.

Attend the first virtual Public Information Centre (PIC) meeting and share your vision for the future of Barrie’s waterfront:

Date:    Thursday, March 24, 2022

Times:  2 to 3:30 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Residents must register in advance for one of the meeting times by using the registration link on the Building Barrie website. After the meeting, there will be a survey posted on buildingbarrie.ca/WaterfrontPlan. The survey will be open for feedback until April 8.

As well, the project team for the Waterfront Strategic Plan has consulted with internal stakeholders in various City departments, and is now reaching out to external stakeholders, including the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority, the City’s Accessibility Advisory Committee, and other local groups and organizations.

Using the feedback from the first PIC meeting and the survey, a concept will be presented at a second PIC meeting, which will take place on Thursday, June 23. Following that meeting, all feedback will be gathered and a staff report on the final Waterfront Strategic Plan will go to City Council in early 2023.
