December arrives on a snowy note

The storm system will hit areas of west of Barrie the hardest

December is showing who is boss.

The month has arrived on a snowy note across the region. The Barrie and Collingwood-area remains under a snowfall warning, while advisories are in place elsewhere.

Forecasters say this slow moving system will dump the heaviest amount of snow on areas west of Barrie, mostly the hilly terrain around Collingwood, Blue Mountains, Duntroon and Singhampton, where a total of 30 cm is possible by Wednesday morning.

Elsewhere, 5 to 10 cm will be the going rate on Tuesday and maybe another 5 cm overnight into Wednesday.

The sloppy weather extends north to Huntsville and south to the northern sections of the Greater Toronto Area.
