New Digs For Glowing Hearts Community Give & Get
New location will re-open before Christmas
It’s been a stressful journey, but Barrie’s Glowing Hearts Community Give and Get has secured a new space to serve city residents in need.
The charity, which provides clothes, toys, and household items was in danger of closing up shop until they could locate a new space.
Glowing Hearts President Cindy Thompson, and daughter of founder Frank Nelson, says she is over joyed by the communities support. “I went to look at a space to use for off season storage, and they wound up showing us a few spots they had available that was perfect for the store.” We are very fortunate that the organization we are working with has gone above and beyond for us. We couldn’t be more grateful!
Coming into the winter months, we need to be open and serve our clients Thompson says. They need boots, snowsuits, and things to keep them warm. ” This couldn’t have come at a better time, and we’re so fortunate that the organization came forward with this space.”
The previous location on Dunlop is closed and work is underway at the new space to get it ready for business before Christmas. However, Thompson says at the moment they cannot receives any donations. “We’re a small organization, so it’s hard to facilitate organizing one location while running another.” Unfortunately we have to temporarily close, but we’ll be open soon, in a bigger and brighter space to serve our clientele.
The new location and helping organization will have to remain under wraps for the moment, but all will be revealed at the Glowing Hearts for the Holidays Fundraiser.

The second annual event is being held on Sunday December 8th, at Mavricks Music Hall in downtown Barrie. The celebration will include a silent auction, raffle, food, live music and photos with Santa. Admission is free and all proceeds benefit Glowing Hearts.
The celebration is also the two year anniversary of Glowing Hearts Founder, Frank Nelsons death. Thompson says it’s a chance to celebrate the holidays and honour her father’s journey, his life and his bucket list which includes Glowing Hearts.
