Pedestrian struck on GO Transit’s Barrie line near King City, impacting service on Monday evening

Fatal incident took place north of King City station

A person was struck and killed by a train on the Barrie GO rail line on Monday afternoon.

GO Transit warned of delays and possible cancellations late in the afternoon, after reporting someone had been hit on the tracks north of the King City station. It was later confirmed that person died as a result.

Trains were not permitted to move through the area for the duration of the investigation thus, the train due into Allandale Waterfront station at 5:34 p.m. was expected to hold for quite some time, with subsequent trains potentially being cancelled.

As of around 5 p.m. Monday, GO Transit officials were expecting an impact of at least two hours.
