Playing Waste Collection Catch Up In Simcoe County

Officials blame challenges that their waste collection contractor is experiencing for the issues

Simcoe County putting out more crews to play catch up.

Officials say 14 crews have been obtained and will be sent to areas Saturday with multiple misses in parts of Bradford West Gwillimbury, Oro-Medonte, Clearview and Essa Township.

Other notes from the County

  • Materials should be set out at your curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day and left until 8:00 p.m. as routes are being adjusted
  • The County is prioritizing the collection of garbage and green bin organics in order to reduce negative impacts from odours. Therefore recycling may be missed or delayed
  • When recycling is missed, please bring recycling materials in from the curb for double collection on your next regularly scheduled day. Regular crews are unable to return the next day
  • Additional collection crews may be sent out, including Saturdays, as resources across the province are available
  • Residents are encouraged to utilize cardboard boxes, blue or clear plastic bags for overflow recyclables
