Police Looking for Would Be Armed Robber

Door Locked Before Bad Guy Could Get In

A sharp eyed bank employee stopped an armed robbery before it could happen.

The Barrie Police Service says a man armed with a shotgun made his way towards the Scotiabank at Mapleview and Yonge St. around 1:30 Friday afternoon, but was stopped in his tracks when an employee locked the inner door before he could get in.

The suspect is described as:

  • Male, white, approximately 6’ tall, slim build, 20s or 30s
  • Wearing a dark blue baseball style hat with an orange New York Mets logo, pink or red coloured bandana up over nose, grey long-sleeved shirt, dark pants, dark shoes with a white toe cap and soles, gloves and sunglasses (possibly red).

Also, should anyone have dash camera video of a grey coloured 4-door passenger car traveling northbound or southbound on Yonge Street near Mapleview Drive East shortly after 1:19 p.m., you are encouraged to contact police.
