Barrie Police is reviewing security video from Mantiques on Dunlop Street after a suspect made off with almost $200 worth of gift cards during a charity auction for The Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
Jim Trimble says they didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary right away.
“Our store has multiple cameras in it. Once the event was done we went back and reviewed the footage and did notice a very suspicious incident which we showed to the police. They agree that the incident in question is likely when the cards were taken” says Trimble.
Trimble is disgusted by the actions of this individual, saying:
“We’re a small business that’s only been here for a year and a half. We were trying to raise money for the cancer ward at RVH. For someone to go and do that; It’s not like walking into a Wal-Mart and stealing a chocolate bar. Don’t get me wrong that’s not any better theft is theft but to steal from a local business and a charity at the same time I think is deplorable.”
Trimble hopes Police catch the suspect and that he’s embarrassed for what he’s done.
