Project Discard Leads To Arrests, Seizures By Police

Investigation uncovered cash and led to charges against eight people

The largest methamphetamine production operation ever investigated by York Regional Police.

Project Discard was a four month long investigation involving six search warrants at multiple locations, dismantled an active meth lab and seized approximately $5 million dollars in drugs.

Police were first contacted when more than 100 garbage bags and plastic canisters were found dumped on a driveway on Woodbine Avenue, south of Herald Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

The bags were emitting a strong chemical smell and the plastic canisters were marked corrosive.

A similar dump site was reported to police on December 2nd 2018 at a property located on Woodbine Avenue, south of Mount Albert Road.

Eight people have been charged in this investigation but one suspect is still outstanding.
