Board Urges Province To Collaborate On New Solutions to Fiscal Challenges

Simcoe County Board of Education trustees have approved a letter written by Chair Jodi Lloyd to the Minister of Education addressing concerns related to class size and impact on programming.

The letter outlines the Simcoe County District School Board’s concern that ballooning class sizes will affect student performance; the letter also claims improvements in graduation rates can be attributed to improvements that would not be available as schools are forced to maintain higher class size averages.

The draft goes on to state school board trustees are well aware of the fiscal challenges that the Province faces, but urges Queen’s Park to consider collaborating on new solutions that ensure positive opportunities for students.
