Second death at Bradford long term care home confirmed as local Health Unit raises case count by 8 to 159

COVID-19 has claimed nine lives in Simcoe-Muskoka

A woman in her 80s has died, after contracting COVID-19 during an outbreak at a Bradford long-term care home. She represents the facility’s second death in an outbreak affecting 23.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) confirmed the second death on Tuesday, as it posted eight new cases of COVID-19 to its case count. The regional total now stands at 159.

Of the new cases, a Barrie man in his 70s who has been hospitalized. The other seven people are recovering in self-isolation, according to the SMDHU.

Including the death at Bradford Valley, nine people in Simcoe and Muskoka have lost their lives to COVID-19. Thus far, 65 people have recovered.
