Simcoe County Adds Curbside Collections

Leaves, grass, branches and other appropriately prepared garden waste will be picked up every two weeks

The County of Simcoe is providing two additional leaf and yard waste curbside collections per household this summer. Bi-weekly collections will occur in July, collecting leaves, grass, branches and other appropriately prepared garden waste.

The County’s leaf and yard waste collection program is popular, with growing participation rates each year. The County has a mix of rural and urban communities and this is a great example of the County adapting and responding to meet the increased needs of our diverse region while offering an added level of convenience to our residents.”

The bi-weekly yard waste collection was first implemented in 2013 with spring and fall programs.

  • Simcoe County has seen a year-on-year increase in the quantity of materials collected and the number of participating households
  • approximately 6,000 tonnes were collected in the Spring compared to approximately 3,000 tonnes in previous years
