The Only Gift Some of These Kids Might Get

Youth Haven Launches Boxes of Hope

A local not for profit is giving you a chance to show how much you care through a Boxes of Hope campaign.

Youth Haven, the shelter for youngsters, has launched this annual campaign in benefit of its residents ranging in age from 16 to 24.

It is the second annual effort, and Youth Haven Executive Director Lucy Gowers says it’s not just a material present you’re giving either. “We’re hoping to engage our community to purchase a box of hope: hope not just necessarily the feeling, but we want to be able to provide our youth with a Christmas; we want to be able to let them know that they matter to us and they matter to our community.”

These boxes cost $50 apiece, which not only covers the cost of the gift, but also food and social service programming many of these youth need to get past the circumstances that brought them to Youth Haven.
