The sand-covered streets of Barrie will be cleaned up after the winter and takes about 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Morton says the between eight and nine thousand metric tonnes of sand is used during the winter and crews end up collecting roughly four thousand tonnes in the Spring.

Morton says there have been some interesting pickups for the crews.
