A two-vehicle collision in Ramara Township has resulted in both drivers hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and Ontario Provincial Police say one of them has been charged with impaired driving.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a crash on Highway 12 near Concession 1, north of Gamebridge.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found one vehicle in the ditch and another vehicle with significant damage blocking the highway. With the assistance of Ramara firefighters, they were able to extricate the driver from the vehicle in the ditch. When officers spoke to the other motorist, police say they noticed the driver showed signs of being impaired by alcohol.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital, then taken to trauma centre's in Toronto.

A 52-year-old woman from Scarborough has been charged with impaired diving and operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed or has camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Orillia OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
