Global Affairs Canada is now urging Canadians to avoid all travel to Hubei Province in China as the death toll from Coronavirus climbed Monday to 106.
The House of Commons Health Committee has been recalled to discuss Canada’s response to the virus.
We learned Monday of a second case of the disease in Toronto – the wife of the first patient, both of whom recently travelled from China.
Nineteen others in Ontario – many in the Toronto-area – are being investigated for possible infection – the illness has been ruled out in 15 others.
Health officials are awaiting test results for the 19 people under investigation. The “vast majority” of them are currently in hospital and in isolation. It’s not clear if any of them were on the same flight back to Toronto as the husband and wife.
Simcoe County health officials maintain the flu remains a bigger threat in our region.
