Every month, Netflix adds (and removes) tons of older movies so that you have everything from new-age westerns to sci-fi classics to check out. Before you start up a new film or series this month, check out some of these movies you might have missed that have been added to Netflix on September 1st.

3-10 to Yuma

A remake of the 1957 classic, 3-10 to Yuma is a western about a rancher (Christian Bale) attempting to regain his honour and save his farm by escorting a dangerous criminal (Russell Crowe) to prison. 3-10 to Yuma would have been totally fine resting on the acting chops of its two leads but the entire cast is excellent as well, with an especially eye-catching performance from Ben Foster.

American Psycho

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Let's keep this Christian Bale train rolling with one of his creepiest roles ever in American Psycho. Patrick Bateman is an investment banker who usually hides and suppresses his psychopathic nature, but one day when he gives in to his uncontrollable bloodlust. American Psycho is a disturbing horror movie that also has a few surprisingly funny moments if you can handle some of the grizzlier moments.

Blade Runner: The Final Cut

If you're a fan of sci-fi films, Blade Runner is an absolute must watch and The Final Cut is the definitive version of the film. The movie follows blade runner Rick Deckard, a bounty hunter who tracks and terminates rogue, human-like androids called replicants. Even if you have seen the movie before, The Final Cut makes huge changes to the story (and ending) and is the only version that director Ridley Scott had complete creative control over. Crank the volume on this one too because the soundtrack is phenomenal.

Fences

Adapted from the 1985 play of the same name, Fences is the story of a working-class father's family struggles in 1950's Pittsburgh. The film is an acting tour de force with Denzel Washington in the lead and Viola Davis giving an Oscar-winning performance as Rose Maxson. Grab some popcorn and a box of tissues for this one!

School of Rock

Let's end this list of a lighter note. When Dewey Finn is kicked out of his band, he fakes it as a substitute teacher at an uptight private elementary school where he tries to turn his class into a rock band. Funny, full of fantastic music, and if anyone is rock 'n' roll in human form, it's Jack Black. The School of Rock is now in session.
