$500M futuristic eSport venue slated to open in Toronto by 2025

Multi-use venue will be for a new generation of fans that "think differently"

A new futuristic 7,000-seat eSports and concert venue is slated for completion by 2025 at Exhibition Place in Toronto. OverActive Media, of which The Weeknd owns a stake, released details about their $500 million performance venue and hotel complex on Monday.

"This best-in-class performance venue will be the chosen home for a new generation of fans that think differently about their entertainment choices and experiences,” said Chris Overholt, OverActive's President and CEO.

The venue will be home for both of OverActive Media's eSport franchises, the Toronto Ultra of the Call of Duty League and Toronto Defiant of the Overwatch League.

"It has always been our intention to develop a venue and hosting strategy and to build a facility that could not only serve as an iconic home for our two franchises but ultimately emerge as a global hub for major international eSport events,” added Overholt.
