Police said during the investigation, the officer determined the tow truck was being operated without a valid Tow Operator Certificate. An inspection of the vehicle, according to police, uncovered additional mechanical and registration defects.

As a result of the operator not having the required certificate, the tow truck was towed and impounded for seven days under the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act.
"The OPP continues to enforce provincial legislation to ensure safe, compliant towing practices on Ontario's roads," police said in a social media post.
