Oro-Medonte firefighters responded around 1:30 Sunday afternoon for a diver with vital signs absent.

In an email to Barrie 360, Fire Chief Roree Payment said crews from Station 1 and 2 responded to an area near Line 2 South in Shanty Bay.

The male was removed by others he was diving with in Lake Simcoe, and when County of Simcoe paramedics and firefighters arrived, the male had a pulse.

Crews treated and removed him from the ice, according to Payment, where was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie in stable condition.
