OPP alert about paving scam in Simcoe County

Police said the company goes by the name "Icon" or "Ikon"

A heads-up if you were thinking of getting your driveway paved.

Provincial police are warning residents about an "illegitimate company" offering driveway paving services.

Police say the company goes by the name 'Icon' or 'Ikon" and has offered services in New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio and Essa Township.

In a tweet, the OPP said the individuals exploit residents for cash or e-transfer payments without providing proper paper quotes or invoices.

"Upon entering a verbal agreement, these individuals may begin work immediately by damaging the surface," provincial police tweeted.

The OPP added that the scammers are known to operate Ford F150 pickup trucks.
