A 29-year-old Barrie man is facing charges after a four-month investigation that began, according to police, when the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children alerted city cops concerning the upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

In February, the Barrie Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at a home in the central part of the city. It seized several electronic devices for forensic analysis.

On Wednesday, the suspect was charged with possessing and accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
