A Barrie man has been charged following a collision involving a car and a dump truck at the intersection of Mapleview Drive West and Townline Road (County Road 27).
Barrie police say the incident happened on Tuesday afternoon around 3:20.
"Officers from the Barrie Police Traffic Unit have determined that a tandem-style dump truck was travelling northbound on Townline Road when a passenger car made a left turn from southbound Townline Road to eastbound Mapleview Drive West," police wrote in a release. "The car turned directly in front of the dump truck which lost control coming to rest in a farm field northwest of the intersection."
Both drivers were sent to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Roads in the area of the crash were closed for roughly two and half hours for an investigation, clean up, and removal of the vehicles.
A 37-year-old, who was driving the car, has been charged with Turn - Not in Safety, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
"The Barrie Police Service wishes to thank those who were travelling in the area yesterday afternoon for their patience as traffic was significantly impacted by the required at-scene investigation and while the necessary cleanup of debris and automotive fluids took place," police also stated in the release.
