If you had outdoor plans on Monday, Mother Nature rained on your parade but gave a welcome soaking to our region.
In fact, it was the most significant rain in weeks in the Barrie area.
The steady rain that began Sunday night washed away fire bans in most of the 16 municipalities in Simcoe County. As of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13, fire bans remained in place in Severn and Midland.
There are no fire bans in Barrie and Orillia.
The fire danger rating remains extreme in Muskoka and outdoor burning including for cooking and warmth is banned.
According to Environment Canada, as of 10 p.m. Monday, nearly 43 mm of rain was recorded in Barrie in the past 24 hours, 56.4 mm in Orillia, 39 mm in Collingwood and 50.4 mm at Muskoka Airport.
The forecast on Tuesday calls for a mix of sun and cloud, though a few scattered showers and a thunderstorm could fire up in the afternoon, however, the activity will be hit-and-miss.
