Severe thunderstorms raced across parts of Muskoka on Monday, and in one incident, a 19-year-old man was struck and killed by a falling tree.

Huntsville OPP say they responded to Clearwater Lake Road in Port Sydney, where the man was then transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say they also received numerous reports of downed trees and hydro lines across the road throughout the area.

Hydro One says damage includes broken poles, trees, and tree limbs that have dropped onto wires. Additional crews have been sent to areas hardest hit to support restoration.
