Suspended driver up the creek after crash in south Barrie

No injuries were reported

A suspended driver ended up in a swampy creek after a two-vehicle crash in south Barrie on Thursday evening.

Just before 7:30 p.m., police say a vehicle making a left turn onto Welham Road from Mapleview Drive East was struck by a car that allegedly entered the intersection against a red light at a high rate of speed.

The impact sent the eastbound vehicle into a creek located on the southeast corner of the intersection.

Police say the motorist, a 38-year-old Barrie man, was charged with driving while under suspension and careless driving.

Neither driver was injured, but both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
