Second-degree murder charge laid after body found at Scouts Valley Trail in Orillia

Provincial police have charged a 33-year-old Brampton man with second-degree murder after the discovery of a body at Scouts Valley Trail in Orillia.

Police say officers responded to the area off Old Barrie Road around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday where a person was located deceased.

Investigators say there is no ongoing threat to public safety, though residents can expected an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Investigators are urging members of the public to contact police if they were in or near the Scouts Valley Trail area on the evening of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, and have any information that could be relevant, including dashcam footage.
