Barrie resident among two arrested after lengthy OPP drug trafficking probe in Simcoe County

Ontario Provincial Police say a lengthy drug trafficking investigation has led to multiple charges and significant seizure in Severn Township.

Police say the probe began last fall, targeting suspected traffickers operating across Simcoe County.

On Saturday, multiple warrants were executed, leading to the arrest of two individuals, a 20-year-old from Barrie and a 22-year-old from Severn Township.

As a result of the investigation, police said they seized:

  • 5,048 grams of cocaine
  • 30 Oxycodone tablets
  • Over $110,000 Canadian currency
  • 2026 Volkwagon Tiguan
  • 4 cellular devices
  • 2 laptops
  • Money counter
  • Drug trafficking paraphernalia

Both suspects have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of opioids other than heroin for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The suspect from Barrie was held for a bail hearing. The other accused was released with a future court date.
