Barrie Public Library's BIG Spring Book Sale, held on May 23 and 24, welcomed around 575 attendees over the weekend at the popular bi-annual event. Featuring the support of library volunteers in various roles, the sale saw thousands of books, video games, CDs and DVDs find new homes while raising $4,736.35 in support of library initiatives.

Funds raised through the Barrie Public Library’s book sales directly contribute to the growth of the Library’s Creative Spaces and Library of Things collection, helping expand access to tools, technology, and resources for the community.

The event also provided an opportunity for community members to connect with library services while encouraging reading and lifelong learning. Patrons shared enthusiasm for discovering new authors, building personal collections, and exploring the many resources and programs available through the library.

"Seeing so many people enjoying the event was truly special," said Katelyn Lees, Community & Resource Development Specialist. "We heard many attendees say that that these Book Sales are one of their favourite events in the city. We are so thankful for all the community support through donations, volunteerism, and attending our sales."

Beyond the fundraising success, this event supports our community in many ways – by bringing people into library spaces, supporting volunteerism, fostering a love of reading for all ages, and welcoming new library members.
