Driver injured in north end Barrie crash

So far, no charges have been laid

Barrie Police continue to investigate a single-vehicle crash that happened at the back of a building at 342 Bayfield Street shortly before 3:30 on Thursday afternoon and resulted in the female driver being taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

"Upon arrival, police located the involved motor vehicle that had just struck and damaged a large section of wooden fencing before it struck a large pine tree. Barrie Fire and Emergency Services were on scene and assisted with removing the 37-year-old female driver who was transported to a local hospital by the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services with what are described as non-life threatening injuries. A male passenger who was in the car at the collision was uninjured and did not require any medical attention," police said in a news release on Friday.

Police say they have determined the car had just left a nearby fast-food restaurant and for some reason, as it crossed Glenwood Drive, accelerated striking the fence and came to a stop after striking the tree.

So far, no charges have been laid.
