A 17-year-old Bradford resident is facing 10 charges after South Simcoe Police said he fled from during two incidents on the same day.
Police say the first incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m. on Aug. 8 when officers were called to a business on Holland Street West in Bradford. According to investigators, a youth riding an e-bike refused to leave a drive-thru area and allegedly took food from the business without paying.
Officers located a youth matching the description a short distance away and attempted to conduct a stop. Police say he failed to comply with directions and fled.
Later that day, at approximately 6 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to reports of a youth causing a disturbance at another local business in the same area.
Investigators say they also received information that the same youth had been operating an e-bike at a high rate of speed through a crowded public area.
When officers attempted to speak with the youth, police say he again refused to comply with directions and fled on the e-bike.
The youth was eventually tracked down and questioned. During the investigation, officers located four unopened alcoholic beverages in the teen's possession.
As a result of the investigation, the teen has been charged with:
- Theft Under $5,000
- Two counts of Flight from Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Person Under 19 Years Having Liquor
- Fail to Identify Self
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Permit
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
- Owner Operate Motor Vehicle on a Highway – No Insurance
Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released.
