Man faces charges in failed attempt to steal dump truck in Wasaga Beach: OPP

Police say workers at a construction site in Wasaga Beach blocked in a dump truck after a man allegedly tried to steal it.

Officers were called to the River Road West location just after 1 p.m. on Thursday.

When police arrived, they said the man was locked in the cab of the truck and was burning tires in an attempt to escape.

At first, officers said the mand did not obey police orders, however shortly after he was arrested without incident.

A 50-year-old from Wasaga Beach was charged with:

·        Adult Theft Over $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle

·        Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order

·        Adult Resist Peace Officer

·        Adult Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
