The Barrie Police Marine Unit (BPMU) handed out four offence notices during Labour Day long weekend patrols on Kempenfelt Bay, three for missing life jackets or personal flotation devices, and one for not having a required sound-signalling device.

Police inspected several vessels and checked in with paddleboarders during patrols.

The BPMU reminds boaters to have the required safety equipment before leaving shore, with life jackets or personal flotation devices readily available.
