South Simcoe Police have recovered more than $165,000 worth of stolen vehicles and property after interrupting a theft in progress in Innisfil.
Police say officers spotted a vehicle and encountered suspects at an industrial site on Yonge Street around 4:20 Monday morning.
Additional officers were called in and searched the area, but the suspects were able to get away.
The investigation led police to recover a 2016 Ford F-550, a 2012 Kubota R520S wheel loader, and four large spools of aluminum conductor wire. Each spool weighs about 2,500 pounds.
Police say the Ford had been reported stolen from Richmond Hill about a month earlier, while the wheel loader was reported stolen from Milton in November 2025.
Investigators discovered that efforts had been made to conceal the identities of both stolen vehicles.
Police say identifying marks were removed from the Ford, while the Kubota had been repainted. Police say identifying information and the rollover protection structure were also removed.
Arrangements are now being made to return the recovered vehicles and property.
The investigation is ongoing.
