South Simcoe police say they have charged one man and dismantled a drug lab following an investigation in downtown Bradford.
On Friday, July 14, around 4:00 p.m., police attended an apartment on Holland Street for a well-being check.
While inside, officers say they observed a large quantity of suspected controlled substances in plain view.
"A male resident was arrested for Controlled Drug and Substances Act offences and transported to South Division," officers wrote in a release. "Two officers who had entered the apartment were taken to hospital as a precaution for inhalation of vapours. The officers were cleared medically and resumed their duties."
Then on Saturday, July 15, a search warrant was executed at the apartment.
"Police seized 1.4 kilograms of suspected controlled substances and 1.4 kilograms of other substances used in the production of drugs. Officers removed and safely disposed of a quantity of hazardous materials from the unit."
A 19-year-old Bradford man was charged with drug possession, production, and trafficking offences.
"These types of drug operations pose a public safety risk due to the toxic and hazardous chemicals involved. We urge members of the public to contact police immediately if you suspect a drug lab in your community."
