
Provincial police have charged eight people, including a man from Innisfil, om Tuesday after a drug trafficking investigation and subsequent seizures in Dufferin County.
Dufferin OPP's community street crime unit (CSCU) began the investigation in April and identified six locations across East Garafraxa, Amaranth, Orangeville, Etobicoke and Innisfil as being involved in the trafficking of suspected cocaine and fentanyl. The Caledon, Muskoka, Collingwood and Nottawasaga detachment's CSCUs then executed search warrants.
A man was arrested at a residence in Etobicoke before officers executed three more warrants in Etobicoke and Innisfil which led to two other arrests.
The seizures included approximately 2.18 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 624 grams of suspected fentanyl and 24 grams of suspected methamphetamine, along with several prescription opioid pills and other powders awaiting analysis.
Police also seized about $64,500 in cash, a .380-calibre handgun and ammunition, and drug-trafficking equipment and several luxury items believed to be proceeds of crime.

The man from Innisfil, a 39-year-old is facing 29 charges including twelve counts of failing to comply with a release order, three counts of possession cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of the same possession charge for fentanyl, and another for methamphetamine.
He was also charged with four firearm possession-related counts, four counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited, possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000, and two other drug trafficking charges.
Also charged were as 46-year-old woman from East Garafraxa, a 48-year-old woman from Amaranth, a 43-year-old woman from Brampton, a 40-year-old man from Orangeville, a 44-year-old man of no fixed address, a 34-year-old woman from Etobicoke, and another suspect whose identity is protected by a court-ordered publication ban.
They are all facing a varying amount of charges mostly consisting of drug possession and trafficking offences
