Barrie Police say they carried out a warrant related to drug offences on Thursday night, in the area of Maple Avenue and Dunlop Street West in the downtown.
Nine people were taken in custody.
"We can confirm that loud noises reported in the area at the time were related to police entry into the building, there were no firearms discharged," police said in a social media post.
Several police officers were seen underneath a white tent in an alley off of Maple Avenue several hours after the raid was carried out.
The area of the police activity has been notorious for open drug use in the alley and in front of a boarded up residence on Maple Avenue.
